Admissions FAQs
Does OCS have a school bus?
Yes! Bus service is available to OCS from Kanata and Manotick. There is a connecting shuttle for Redeemer Christian High School students. Fees and schedules are arranged during registration. Visit our Busing Information page for routes and details. Note that there is limited capacity, so busing is not guaranteed.
Does OCS have a uniform?
We don’t require a uniform at this time. Our dress code reflects our values while helping keep tuition affordable. Students are provided with standardized gym shirt.
How much does OCS cost?

What grades does OCS offer?
We are an elementary school serving students from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 8.
When should I apply?
As space is limited, we recommend filling out the wait pool application as early as possible. For JK, reach out by December (or earlier) of the year before you wish to start.
What is tuition for international students?
An additional $600 international student fee applies.
What clubs and activities are available?
Opportunities vary each year but may include choir, sports teams (soccer, volleyball, basketball), intramurals, student council, and interest-based clubs such as chess, creative arts, and knitting. Leadership teams help with activities such as worship, recycling, delivering the lunch program, and playground duties.
What learning support is available?
Our Learning Support team works closely with teachers to meet student needs through in-class help, small-group instruction, individual plans (IEPs), and resource room support. All students are assessed upon enrollment to evaluate the best way to support their academic journey.
Does OCS offer French?
Yes. Grades 5 and 6 participate in an Extended French program (approximately 400min/week) focusing on authentic communication and literacy. All other grades receive 200 minutes of French weekly.
Is before and after school care available?
We offer after school care (until 5:30 p.m.) for an additional fee with limited spots. Morning supervision starts at 8:00 a.m. We do not offer a formal before school program.
Does OCS offer daycare?
No, but we can recommend local daycares. Email [email protected] for suggestions.
What are school hours?
Classes run from 8:25 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Is there a ministry family discount?
No. We believe all God’s people serve in ministry in different ways and keep tuition consistent for everyone.
Does OCS offer financial aid?
Yes. Our bursary program provides a tuition bursary to families that qualify. It is managed by a third party and awarded anonymously. Email [email protected] to learn more.
Is OCS affiliated with a specific church or denomination?
OCS is a non-denominational Christian school. Our families come from many church backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to Christ-centered education and the values that we hold to as outlined in the constitution included in our information package.
Do students have daily Bible classes?
Yes. All students have Bible integrated into their daily teaching including specific Bible classes, daily devotions and prayer, and regular chapel services.
Do families have to be Christian to attend OCS?
We require all families to have at least 1 parent active and attending a Bible believing church and to respect and support our Christian mission, values, and teaching.
How is faith integrated into academics?
Faith in Christ is interwoven into every sphere of our lives—our teachers integrate this Christian worldview into all subjects and activities, helping students see God’s truth in every aspect of life.
What curriculum does OCS use?
OCS follows the Ontario curriculum as a guide to skills taught. This is enriched with Christian perspectives/content and additional resources to support faith-based learning.
How many students are in each class?
Class sizes vary, depending on the needs of each classroom. However, generally we have class sizes in JK-K under 21, Gr. 1-3 under 23 and Gr. 4-8 under 25.
How does OCS handle technology in the classroom?
Technology is used intentionally to support learning, not distract from it. Students have access to Chromebooks and other tools as needed for class projects.
Does OCS follow Ontario school holidays?
Yes, we follow a similar calendar to the local public school board, with some differences for professional development and special events.
Are there hot lunch options?
Yes! We offer a weekly hot lunch program that families can sign up for in advance.
