Membership.
Membership is foundational to achieve the community character of Christian education. This mission is accomplished in community - it is a shared effort. Moreover, it is from the membership that volunteers and leaders of the Society are drawn. Individuals are welcome to contribute their unique abilities and talents, to the benefit of the whole community.
Membership supports the vision, mission, and strategic work of the school Society. Membership is encouraged for all eligible parents/guardians. An active and engaged membership is a key element in ensuring a flourishing and enduring school. Membership focuses on commitment to a cause rather than participation in an institution. Membership stretches beyond the current parent community, including adult alumni, former parents, grandparents, and community supporters, thus sustaining the heritage and purpose of Christian education across the generations. Membership is essential to provide accountability of the Board for their work of governance. The Board needs the engagement of the members to consider and affirm the acts of the Board and the decisions that are made on the Society’s behalf. The Board also needs members to willingly and actively participate in Society work and step into leadership as Directors or other tasks as defined by the Board or the Society. If interested in membership or changing membership status, please reach out to the Membership Committee at membership@ocschool.org and we would be happy to provide more information about the application process.
