Week 39: February 21- February 27, 2010
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The front entrance way now has doors! The exterior is almost complete. Volunteers are on site every weekend doing clean-up to get ready for painting in the next few weeks. (It is also warm in the school now.)

The picture below left is taken from the foyer looking down the main hallway. The picture below right is the view from the reception area looking at the foyer.

The cupboards have arrived and are waiting to be installed and eventually filled with tools for the classroom and teaching. On the bottom right a volunteer is taking out the trash.

Week 37-38: February 7- February 20, 2010
Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Above is the perspective shot and below are some more photos of the exterior, which, although it hasn’t undergone the dramatic changes seen in the first 30 weeks, continues to get closer to completion with the addition of exterior doors this past week .

The photos below show the exterior doors from both inside and outside of the building.

Inside the school cupboards are ready to be installed in the classroom and Mr.T (and some other camera shy volunteers) are busy sweeping up the debris so that things are ready for the workers on Monday morning.

The foyer is beginning to look inviting and it will be a great place to welcome people into the school. (The big tunnel is NOT some new-fangled educational tool for kinesthetic learners and will be removed well before the school is completed!)

Week 36: January 31- February 6, 2010
Sunday, February 7th, 2010
The following pictures show that although the school looks much the same from week to week from the outside, the inside is being transformed from a concrete slab to recognizable rooms as work continues on the interior walls and ceilings with the installation of the drywall, duct work etc.

Special Post: February 3, 2010

A few children, representing our entire student body, paid a surprise early morning visit to the New Facility Team meeting.

It was time for this team to get some encouragement straight from the hearts of our students. Grace Sontrop led the effort to prepare and organize the many students who participated in this project.

Our team, John Van Zeurmeren, Stephen Rolston, Lew Triemstra and Paul Triemstra were so encouraged to receive the basket of goodies prepared by Sandra Mulder and the Thank you notes with blessings and words of praise from our kids! These faithful men have been gathering weekly on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 am to oversee the many details and decisions of the construction process. And this visit made this week very memorable!

Week 35: January 24-January 30, 2010
Monday, February 1st, 2010

The work continues inside the new building with lots and lots of drywall. (Which makes lots and lots of dust… thanks volunteers for coming in on Saturday to sweep it all up!)

The pictures below show the office and front entrance taking shape.

Our project manager is (almost!) always on site making sure that everything runs smoothly. He is standing in the teacher’s kitchen… sorry no snacks here yet!

The photo below left is taken looking out of the window toward Clarke Park. Below right is a photo of work being done in the foyer area.
