Wednesday, June 23rd was the last day of school had the children come to the new facility for their final closing chapel. All the children were brought to where they would be coming in and lining up when they return in September. They all took a tour of the building and were able to see where their class might be. Lots of Oohs and Ahhs!
The final Chapel had singing with gusto. They also presented the AR Awards. These students got the most points for their grade for reading this year. The buses picked up the kids to bring them to and from the new school.
The grade 8 Grad was held at the Calvin CRC on Wednesday June 23rd. Here is the grade 8 graduating class.
The Classrooms had been packed the final weeks at the Benjamin site. Moving Day was on Friday, June 25th. The day went rather smoothly with the AMJ crew doing the moving with lots of volunteers, both at Benjamin site and at the new Tartan site.
The teachers are now working on setting up their new classrooms over the summer.
On a bright and sunny evening exactly one year after the Groundbreaking Ceremony the Ottawa Christian School community was celebrating again with a Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. There was music, speeches, prayers, presentations, tours and ice cream. The photos below clearly show that a great time was had by all!
“Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

Work continues on the grounds of OCS. The parking lot is ready to be paved and the curbs are being poured. The fences are up and the topsoil has been spread on the playing fields and trees have been planted. The photos below were taken from Standherd Road and show the playing fields with the school in the background.
The front entrance of the school is looking amazing thanks to Jim TeBrake and all the work he did (with the help of his son) on the interlocking stone. Great job!
So much has been accomplished in the past year! The site has gone from a farmers field to the vibrant and welcoming building that we see today. We are thankful for the wonderful construction teams that worked under the leadership of John Van Zeumeran (pictured below right with his wife, Gerry). We are so blessed by God to have such talented and dedicated workers and volunteers. We look forward to celebrating God’s faithfulness at the Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held on Friday June 11 at 6:30.

Work continues on the inside of the building as finishing touches are done on the floors, walls, cupboards and shelving. Volunteers were on site finishing painting , wiping down surfaces and cleaning the windows.
The library has a great check-out desk and a nifty set of built in benches that some students tried out while taking a break from working on the playing fields.
Many volunteers (including present and future students) have been busy clearing the playing fields of the larger rocks and debris in preparation for topsoil and seeding.

The photos below (clockwise) show the entrance near the gym, the front entrance with the upper window complete, the playing fields and the back of the school and the temporary sign welcoming people. The fence posts were installed this week as well as continued work on landscaping to prepare for play structures, playing fields and the parking lot.
Inside the school things are nearing completion. The cupboards, floors, blackboards, ceilings and lights are installed. There is still some painting and cleaning to be done by volunteers over the next week.
Above left is a photo of the kitchen and the photo above right shows the reception area. Below are some classrooms.
The photos below show the unique activity rooms that are located between classrooms to facilitate activities such as small group work and volunteers working with students.
